ARCHIVE Spotlight on William Hunter
![]() |

William Hunter O.R.H. has just finished a stint as clan membership secretary. At 79 years of age he still enjoys a good walk, especially on the island of Arran. Any members visiting the castle will probably have arranged it through William and as he lives fairly local he would probably have guided them around himself.

| The header photo is William and his wife Janet representing the Clan at the Inverness Highland Games. (sorry to Ellen and Stuart for covering faces - your time will come) William said it was his kilt he was drying under his polo shirt. |

| I put some questions to William: | ||
| How long have you been a member of the Clan/Association? | I have only been a Member since 2001 but been interested for many, many years, just never got around to doing anything about it. I seem to have made up for that in a few years. | |
| I've seen photos of you carrying out various jobs, what positions have you held? | hmm ... Positions Held as a Council Member, Membership Secretary, Editor /Publisher of Hunters Tryst, Castle Tour Guide, I Designed / Made / Polished the Order of Royal Huntsman Honours Board and I Designed Clan Association Banner, that'll do you to get on with. | |

Proudest Moment has to be receiving The Order of The Royal Huntsman from Madam Pauline At the dinner held during The Gathering 2009. Funniest Moment is probably when during one of the Castle Tours, the visitor told me he had been talking to MY GARDENER when he described the gentleman concerned it turned out to be Angus, Madam Pauline's brother Saddest Moment would be taking part in a Ceremony to Commemorate The Battle of Flodden and also attending Funerals of past Members / Friends Visitors to Castle. Overall I feel this is the best experience anyone can have, I have met so many Hunters from all over the world, made many friends who I still keep in touch with and will be very sad when I get too old to climb them stairs (Hoping that is a long away in the future) |

| Every year we have our Burns Supper and this was our best yet. Maybe it was the atmosphere and the company ... You could say Robert was getting into the spirit (or the spirit getting into Robert) either way we had a good solo rendition of The Star O' Rabbie Burns. |

| from webmaster: I would like to add that as the newest clan member it is a challenge researching for this web site. Bill has been a perfect gentleman in answering to my incessant questioning. I even caught him at 4am on his computer, having a wee cuppa, and got another ten questions answered. He has also allowed me the pick of his best photo's for publishing. |
